FAQ
Q: Where is my car’s OBDII Port?
ABS System–What You Need to Know
An ABS (anti-lock braking system) or anti-skid braking system is an automobile safety system that allows the wheels on a motor vehicle to maintain tractive contact with the road surface according to driver inputs while braking, preventing the wheels from locking up (ceasing rotation) and avoiding uncontrolled skidding. On many vehicles, braking ability will be reduced if the antilock system malfunctions, and stability control and traction control (on vehicles with those features) might also be disabled.
How do I know if my ABS system is not working?
A warning light for the ABS is supposed to illuminate briefly every time you start your car. If the warning light stays on, that means the antilock system has been deactivated because of an electrical or mechanical malfunction. Your vehicle’s regular brakes should operate, but the antilock feature that prevents wheels from locking up during braking will not work. In addition, if your vehicle has stability control and traction control, those will be disabled too because they rely on the same wheel-speed sensors as the antilock system.
How do I fix the problem?
FOXWELL NT630 Elite ABS diagnostic tool can help you diagnose your car and find out what wrong with it. You just need repair the car according to the information it gives you. After you correct the condition(s) that caused the fault, you can use the scanner to reset the ABS light. Erase codes does not fix the problem that caused the fault! DTCs should only be erased after correcting the condition(s) that caused them. So you must get the car repaired before erase the codes.
SRS:Â is made up of Impact Sensors, a Control Module, and Airbags. When the impact sensors detect a collision they send an extremely fast signal to the control module, which relays that signal to the airbags, deploying them to help prevent vehicle occupants from hitting interior objects such as steering wheels, dashboards, and the like. When the control module detects a problem with the airbags or sensors the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) will turn on.
The ABS/SRS diagnostic function is used to retrieve and clear codes from the vehicle ABS/SRS systems. It also provides the definition of each code to help diagnose problem areas within the systems that may cause the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to turn on.
